Over on the latest installment of the official Xbox podcast (via VGC), Ronald noted that the newest Xbox consoles are still very young, and that “over the coming months” we’re going to be hearing more announcements about how Microsoft plans to update them. “As a team, we’re just really excited by this initial response from fans all around the world," he explains in the podcast (below). “At launch, we say it all the time internally, this is really just the beginning. We’ve got a lot of really exciting things that are coming down the pipeline over the coming months and over the coming years.” “There’s a lot coming… we can’t really say too much” added Director of programming, Larry Hryb, on the podcast. “I think that we’re going to have [Ronald back on the show] on sooner rather than later.” Ronald noted that the Xbox team took a well-deserved break in November “to lean back and just listen to the community and listen how people are using the consoles, what they’re excited about, areas that we can improve,” but now the team is ready to start rolling out more updates. First and foremost, it looks like Microsoft is focused on updating the Xbox Mobile app with achievement tracking, and broadcasting updates, DVR quality enhancements and Quick Resume tweaks will all be in the pipeline for the consoles. “We had to disable Quick Resume, on some titles in the launch window,” Ronald explained. “The team’s been working really hard to be able to re-enable those titles so that people are getting that great, quick resume experience on all the titles that people are playing. “These are all areas that are really high priorities for us, as we’re looking at future updates over the coming months and you’ll be able to start seeing some of these experiences in the Insider rings really soon,” he added. Despite some teething issues, then, the launch of the Xbox Series S|X has been a good rollout for Microsoft; we’ve even heard that the Xbox Series X/S was the top-selling platform in the UK during January.
