Over on the PlayStation Blog, Sony’s director of product development, Pete Smith, announced that the action racing game has been pushed back from its initial launch date of November 12, 2020, and will now launch in February 2021 instead. “Destruction AllStars is a multiplayer game that’s at its best when you’re competing with gamers online from all around the world,” Smith wrote on the blog. “We want as many people as possible to experience the mayhem on PS5, and what better way to do that than to provide the game to our PlayStation Plus members? “Next week, we’ll return with a brand-new trailer and more details on the game, so you’ll know exactly what to expect when you download it in February. This may be disappointing news for some of you who were looking to play the game at launch, but we hope you understand the decision.” If you pre-ordered the game at its retail price, you will be refunded, according to Smith. Destruction AllStars is a vehicle-based combat game in development at Lucid Games that was announced for the PlayStation 5 back in June. You may recognize Lucid Games from its work on Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions – the studio is, after all, made up of former WipeOut developers and founded by former Bizarre Creations members. Here’s hoping the game will be worth the wait when it lands on PlayStation 5 via PS Plus next year.
