Nerf, Hasbro’s toy gun brand, has announced a new line of Halo replicas. Picked up by Gamespot, the Halo series includes the MA40 Blaster (AR), the SPNKR as well as the Needler. The designs are based on Halo Infinite, which is what makes them interesting. The $50 MA40 Blaster comes with a code that unlocks Nerf’s specific colour scheme in Halo Infinite. Halo fans will know that this particular model of the famed assault rifle bears a new name and a modified design, so it’s likely debuting with Infinite. This isn’t the first Halo game to allow players to alter the look of their weapons, of course, but it’s confirmation that skins will be featured in Infinite. Perhaps we’re even going to see similar deals with other brands, similar to Call of Duty. Indeed, developer 343 Industries is already touting Reach-level customisation features in Infinite, so we expect these options to be extensive. There’s also another interesting wrinkle to this. All three toys will be available for purchase beginning October 1. Halo Infinite does not have a release date beyond the vague holiday 2020 target revealed at E3 last year. Themed toys of this nature are typically released around the launch of the product they’re promoting. Hasbro would want the hype and anticipation around the game to boost sales, so it’s possible that Halo may be out in October. This is obviously entirely speculative, but I don’t see toys being on sale long before the game is out. In any case, 343 has been hyping up E3 2020 as Halo Infinite’s next big showing, so we’ll no doubt learn more in June. The game is coming to PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
